Getting Ready
We started off the morning with Janelle finishing up getting ready with her hair & makeup. While Janelle was finishing the final touches of her look, I made sure to take some detail photos before the real fun began.
Pro tip: before your photographer arrives, have all of the items you want photographed prepped & ready! That means steaming your wedding dress, your jewelry, flowers, invites and everything should be together so your photographer can start photographing it upon arrival!
We made sure to take some celebratory photos with the girls and their matching robes before having Janelle slip into her wedding dress. It fit her like a glove and flowed ever so beautifully, I had to pick my jaw up from the floor. After taking some solo portraits, it was then time for us to move into the first look.
The First Look & Wedding Portraits
Over the course of a few years, first looks have slowly gained popularity. While many of you may not opt to do a first look on your wedding day, here are a few reasons as to why many people choose to do one. The first being the most obvious, you get to see your hunny! The anticipation of this moment has been building for so long that when you are given the chance, you take it. It’s also a good time to get rid of some of those pre-wedding jitters. Seeing your partner before the actual ceremony helps relieve any kind of nervousness. While first looks can be between you & your partner, they can also be for other people as well. Family members, guardians, bridal party, you name it!
For Janelle & Ethan, their first look was just as intimate and emotional as you could imagine. Tears were shed, smiles were exchanged and it was the best moments. You could see that any type of stress, concern and anxiousness were lifted once they saw each other. And that my friends, is the power of the first look.
After their first look we walked around the property soaking up all of the greenery & gorgeous open space. The venue space was a country club so it had plenty of space for us to walk around and get creative with our posing. We even got to snag a golf cart for easy transportation around the property. Note to self: always get the golf cart when you can.
Summer Country Club Wedding
Janelle and Ethan got married at the Indian Spring Country Club in New Jersey and it was the best time. You wouldn’t know it but it actually rained all day, so the ceremony had to be moved inside. Throughout the entire day, you could see the strong bond that both Janelle and Ethan had. It was the strongest bond that I have ever seen in a couple and it was apparent. Despite the weather shifts and Janelle not feeling 100%, that didn’t stop them from enjoying their wedding day to the fullest.
The ceremony was of course just as beautiful as you could imagine. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight and everybody there was just waiting for the moments that these two love birds could finally say I do. After much anticipation, the moment came and went and they were officially newlyweds – hooray!!
Reception
Now the reception is where the real fun breaks out. It’s at this time that everyone starts to feel a weight off their shoulders and we can finally let loose. We of course did some speeches and cake cutting before moving into first dances. First dances are really such a touching moment and I always get so teary eyed witnessing such speical moments.
Before I knew it, it was time to pack up my camera and head on home. As I walk away from this wedding, I can’t help but feel truly blessed to have been the photographer at their wedding. Now later, Janelle and Ethan have become friends and now I get to shoot their maternity and growing family! I seriously love my job.
