Coastal Engagement in Newport

While I love calling Pennsylvania my home, my heart also yearns for travel. Traveling has become a big part of my life ESPECIALLY being a photographer. I’m so honored to have the opportunity to be able to meet with so many amazing couples and capture so many different love stories throughout the years. However, there is something about Arlyss & Will’s Coastal Engagement in Newport that really struck a chord with me. Maybe it was the insanely beautiful views or the stunning attire that they wore. Either way, their day was one truly to remember and I’m so excited to be sharing with you some of my favorites. Keep scrolling to see more of their Coastal Engagement in Newport!

Coastal Engagement in Newport

One lovely morning I packed up my bags and made my way all the way to Newport, Rhode Island. Newport is known for their amazing history, stunning architecture, and of course the Newport Cliff Walk.

Salve Regina University

For this stunning coastal engagement, I first met up with Will and Arlyss at Salve Regina University. SRU is not hard to find and some may argue that it is smack dab in the center of all the hustle & bustle that is Newport. However, on the day of these engagement photos, we were able to have a relatively empty location to get some beautiful photos. Both Arlyss and Will are so down to earth. I also should mention that these two look like a walking Calvin Klein ad, so there’s that!

While these two lovebirds are naturals in front of the camera, I can’t help but shine a spotlight on Arlyss’ beautiful dress. Designed by Lael Collection, this gorgeous pink dress is what dreams are made of. The way that it fit Arlyss and flowed in the wind was just next level amazing. She looked like she walked straight out of a storybook and I just couldn’t stop photographing them. The flowers were in full bloom as well which made for the prettiest backdrop.

It wasn’t until long that we made our way to our second destination, the Newport Cliff Walk. Now for those of you who don’t know, the Newport Cliff Walk is a 3.5-mile walkway along the edges of the ocean. You’re surrounded by Gilded Age mansions and an amazing ocean breeze. No wonder this is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Rhode Island!

Newport Cliff Walk

Arlyss had done a quick outfit change into this gorgeous two-piece handmade blue dress. It really gave off those ocean feels that we were going for and was much more casual than her first dress. We were able to find a rather secluded rocky spot for us to continue taking their engagement photos. The water was splashing and these two were not afraid to get a little dirty. That’s often how these sessions turn out sometimes though! You end up having to roll with the punches, but you know what? That’s totally fine! Whenever I work with my couples, I make sure to talk about your wants & needs. Not only that but also what you feel comfortable with doing during your session. We never do anything you’re not comfortable with, so I always encourage communication with not only me but ANY photographer you work with.

As many of you may know before I started focusing on weddings & couples I was a fashion photographer. I like to think that my style of photography has a fashion flair to it. Which is why throughout these images you may see some more unique posing. That’s with intention! Arlyss looked absolutely stunning in this handmade dress, so it was only fitting to showcase it in all of its glory. It wasn’t long until the sun started going down and we began getting just a bit chilly.. remember we are in New England! We packed up our belongings and I scurried home to cull & edit away at such a beautiful engagement session. It was such an honor to be there to capture such chemistry in front of my camera and well… see for yourself.
