As the weather starts to warm up, wedding season kicks into full gear! Last month I had the honor of photographing Sarah & Nathaniel’s beautiful Spring wedding at Appleford Estate. The weather was beautiful, the details were stunning and Sarah & Nathaniel looked amazing on their special day. Appleford Estate
Appleford Estate is located on 24 acres of beautiful lush property. Since 1920 this estate has been renovated into the beautiful property and home that it is today. They have undergone a tone of changes and are now filled with lush formal gardens, brick walkways, ponds, and waterfalls. Not only is it one of Pennsylvania’s finest wedding venues, it also holds space to be an arboretum and bird sanctuary.
The Appleford Estate has been a wedding venue for more than 40 years. If you are someone who wants to be fully immersed in nature and wants the wedding of a lifetime, this might just be the wedding venue for you. The Appleford Estate takes pride in its landscaping and the amenities that they offer to all of its wedding guests.
Some of the amazing amenities that they include are:

Despite Sarah and Nathaniel currently residing in NYC, they wanted to be surrounded by friends and family here in Pennsylvania.
Getting Ready & First Look
We started off the morning like any other, as soon as I arrived I began taking a few detail photos. I typically recommend for all of my couples to gather up their wedding details in a box prior to the actual wedding day. That way as soon as I arrive I can start taking photos of your shoes, veil, invitation suite, floral trimmings, etc. Having a designated individual who looks over these details will make sure that your wedding photographer won’t bother you if you’re getting any hair/makeup done! After taking a few detail shots, I was able to meet up with Sarah to take a few solo bridal portraits, and omg, did she look stunning. Her dress from Lotus Bridal looked absolutely amazing on her and she was such a glowing bride.
Shortly after, we met up with Nathaniel outside for their first look. A first look is a very intimate moment between you and your partner, and at times can get very emotional and overwhelming (in the best way possible). While first looks are growing more in popularity, not everyone may choose to do one. You’ll know if you want to do a first look if:
- You’re wanting more privacy on your wedding day
- You don’t want to say your personal vows at the ceremony
- You just can’t wait to see your partner (yes, this is a reason all in itself)
I talk more about first looks in this blog post, here! For Sarah & Nathaniel, the pure anticipation of seeing each other for the first time was eating away at them. They both were starstruck with each other. Reminder to always wear waterproof mascara and/or bring a box of tissues because the waterworks officially start here.
Portraits
As mentioned above, Appleford Estate is located on 24 acres of property. That’s a lot of space! Of course, we had to soak up all of the beautiful gardens and greenery that surrounded us, so portraits it is. The sun was shining and the weather was just perfect so naturally, we had to keep going. Wandering throughout the property and got some of my favorite portraits I have ever taken.
Ceremony & Reception
The ceremony and reception were just as beautiful as you could imagine. Being surrounded by so much light and love was truly a blessing and I can’t believe I had the honor of capturing it all. It’s important to remember that on any wedding day, the focus should be on YOU! It can get really easy to get distracted by little details and things that can possibly go wrong or listen to outside opinions. What matters most is that you are celebrating your love surrounded by those who love and care about you the most.
