As a Philadelphia Wedding Photographer, I have been given many opportunities to meet all types of different people. My favorite moments are the ones where I get to meet such down-to-earth and genuine couples like Wendy and Andrew. A year ago, Wendy and Andrew came to Philadelphia for their engagement photos and we immediately clicked. You could tell throughout their entire engagement session, the love and connection that they have for one another is powerful. It made me even more excited to anticipate all of the powerful emotions on their wedding day. In their vibrant Wythe Hotel Wedding in Brooklyn, New York, Wendy and Andrew solidified their love with their “I do’s” sealed with a kiss. A breathtaking and touching moment to witness and capture and I caught it all.
Wendy & Andrew’s Love Story & Joint Proposal
This love story begins a decade ago when Wendy and Andrew were in college. Andrew having written a guest column in the school paper and Wendy, being a staff photographer, was asked to take Andrew’s headshot. That’s where it all began. From there, their connection only grew stronger. They shared a movie experience watching Andrew’s favorite movie, The English Patient, and things began flourishing. However, shortly after their connection started to spark, Andrew made his way to study abroad in London. This didn’t stop them though, they continued their connection through online letters to one another. Their connection was undeniable so they began dating while Andrew was abroad, and continued once he got back. They endured plenty of life changes like graduate school, a 500-mile move, and multiple career changes together. While being tested against life’s challenges, they overcame each and every one and after a decade, it was time to take the next step.
A unique moment for both Andrew and Wendy was the choice to have a joint proposal. They decided to travel to Philadelphia, to choose a place that symbolized a blank slate. A place that both of them had never been to. Wandering around Downtown Philly, they shortly discovered a perfect spot alongside City Hall. It was there that they prepared their engagement vows and brought their customized rings for each other. A simple and sweet moment that would be the turning point to start their wedding planning journey.

A Vibrant Wythe Hotel Wedding in Brooklyn, New York with Wendy & Andrew
Wendy and Andrew chose the Wythe Hotel because of its old New York vibes and stunning interior/exterior beauty. It was because of this that they really didn’t need much for decor aside from their breathtaking florals by Sweet Thorn Flora. They wanted the Wythe Hotel to do all of the talking and it sure did. Both Wendy and Andrew love books, so they wanted to incorporate this shared love on their wedding day. Exposed brick, classic vintage books, and tapered candles were just some of the standout features of their wedding day to help bring this vision to life. They had sourced vintage and classic books from bookstores, friends, and childhood homes to serve as a part of their table centerpieces. A classic and intimate touch that I think added so much character! Paired with their jewel-toned wedding color scheme, everything looks straight out of a storybook.
From the get-go, Wendy knew that she didn’t want a traditional wedding dress. Instead, her A-line gown consisted of a smoky blue skirt and a pinky beige top with hand-sewn sequins. The perfect way to add some more pizazz to your wedding photos and really hone in on your individuality, if you ask me! Paired with her dress was a flower crown that finished off her wedding look and made her look like a princess. Everything about this day was gorgeous and breathtaking, and wandering around Brooklyn for their portraits made it that much better.
Congratulations Wendy and Andrew! I am wishing you both a very happy and amazing future – cheers!
